Fall Frenzy!

Wow!  It's just a fall flurry of fun in Licious Land!  After a terrific summer that included going to the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend and the Toronto Burlesque Festival, my fall has exploded with fun shows, events, classes and workshops!

How I Spent My Summer, by Kay Licious:

This year was my second time going to the amazing Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas (fondly known as BHOF) and it was even BETTER than last year!  It's hard to put into words.  Just trust me that if you love burlesque, you NEED to go!  It's the best of the best from around the world, plus dozens of incredible and inspiring burlesque Legends (performers from the 40's - 70's).

Here are a few photos to demonstrate the amount of fun I had:

Shortly after BHOF, it was off to my second home, Toronto, for the Toronto Burlesque Festival.  This year was my 4th year attending and performing in the festival and it truly has become a sort of homecoming for me.  I have grown to love so many performers in the Toronto burlesque community.  This year was especially meaningful for me, as I got to perform my fan dance to Don't Stop Believin'.  That song has become my burlesque anthem and my act to it reminds me to never give up on my dreams.

Fantastic Fall Frenzy!

NOW, after a super fun summer, I have a fantastic fall lined up!

I'm teaching Burlesque Basics, as well as Burlesque Choreo/Act Development at Serpentine Studios and have a wonderful group of students that are eager to learn and ready for fun.

I'm also reprising the super fun Rocky Horror Floor Show choreograph class that I taught in the summer in the form of a 2-hour workshop on October 26.  Click THIS LINK to the Facebook event for more details.

I started off my busy fall of events by performing at the Rockabilly Riot Weekender at the Seahorse.  The Riot is always a fun crowd and I have a great time.

A few of my upcoming events are as follows.  There are lots of chances to see me perform int he next month or so!

First off, on Sat. Oct 10 I'll be performing in Cabaret - 50 Shades of Bass at the Company House.  This event consists of 2 amazing DJs and a bevy of beautiful burlesque performers.  It's sure to be a great time!

On Thurs. Oct 17 I'll be part of the entertainment lineup for Royal Blue, a fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation.  Royal blue is my signature colour and I've been dubbed the 'Blue Diamond Diva of Halifax', so it's no surprise that I'm looking forward to strutting my blue best!

HalCon is Halifax's Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Comics Convention and on Nov. 7 Pink Velvet Burlesque will be performing at the Official Pre-Show and Party!  I've got a brand new, fun number planned for this show and I know the other Pink Velvet performers are definitely letting their inner geeks and nerds out!  It'll be a blast!

There's more on the horizon, so make sure you check back to see what I'm up to, and Like me on Facebook!

My Beautiful Students Make Me Proud!

I just need to take a moment to brag a bit and show off my beautiful students that performed in the warm-up show for Pink Velvet Burlesque's 7-Year Anniversary Show!

These ladies had never performed burlesque before, especially on a big stage in a big show at the Casino!  They were so brave and wonderful!  They're dedicated students and even arranged their own extra rehearsals together and re-choreographed the end of the number at the last minute due to a revelation in nudity regulations at the venue!

Teaching burlesque classes at Serpentine Studios is such an amazing experience for me!  I was hesitant when I was first asked to start teaching a class.  I was worried I didn't have what I takes or that I wouldn't enjoy it.  It turns out that I LOVE teaching, and if my students are any indication I think I'm doing a decent job!

Are you interested in learning more about burlesque?  Check out Serpentine Studios ( for information on my burlesque classes, workshops, and parties!

Lucky Number '13!

I'm so excited about 2013 and all it has to offer!  I've given my website a teeny bit of a makeover and I'm excited to take on a new year!

January is looking like a great start to the new year with two fantastic events:

First off, I'll be performing (and competing!) in the The Big So You Think You Got Talent 13 Week Finale!

Tuesday, January 8, 9:30pm at Menz Bar, 2182 Gottingen, St. Halifax, $5 Cover
I'd love to see you out there cheering me on!

Then later this month, I'm off to Toronto to perform in the Sunday Showcase of the Great Canadian GIRLESQUE Expo!

(from Facebook:)
Great Canadian Burlesque, along with sponsors Northbound Leather and Aradia Fitness Oakville present GIRLESQUE, Toronto’s annual winter burlesque mega-showcase. Now in it's 8th year, the event has grown into a 3-day long exposition presenting some of the world’s best in burlesque.

Queens (Pageant Winners), Legends (key performers from the original heyday), local stars, and the stars of tomorrow have all graced the Girlesque stage in the past, and this year promises to knock the ball out of the park with all that PLUS an appearance from the most notorious living legend of burlesque, pop culture icon TEMPEST STORM.

Also, I'm continuing to teach Burlesque classes at Serpentine Studios!  In the first 10-week session I'm teaching Burlesque Basics and the all-new burlesque props class Fab Feathers!  It's not to late to sign up!

Burlesque Basics
Explore burlesque with Pink Velvet Burlesque's Kay Licious.  Learn how to shimmy & shake, bump & grind, and take it off with style!  Teasing peels, tantalizing moves, and sassy attitude will all be covered, so that you can get un-covered.  No experience or dance background necessary.
Burlesque Fabulous Feathers
Take your tease to the next level by incorporating fun burlesque props!  In this session, learn how to use feather boas and fans to play a sexy game of hide and seek.  We will incorporate boa tricks and fan moves with fun dance steps.  Plus learn a fun, flirty, and feathery burlesque choreography!
